Irish Hiking Scarf

Knitted this scarf for me Mum for Christmas. I couldn't resist knitting an Irish Hiking Scarf, since I'm and 1/8th Irish and I just finshed hiking all 2,174.6 miles of the Appalachian Trail. It was fun learning to do cables, and not really that complicated. I used Alchemy Yarns Synchronicity, 50% silk and 50% merino wool. This might be my favorite yarn to knit with so far. Pattern Link.

Seed Stitch Scarf

I tried out seed stitch on this scarf for my third sister. I used 100%
merino wool, Claudia Hand Paints that I ordered from Loop. I used
size 5 needles this time, which to a lot longer than for the three yarn
scarf on size 10 1/2 needles.

Striped, Ribbed Scarf

Another scarf knitted for another sister. I used Alchemy Yarn bamboo again. I would have liked the lighter color to be a bit darker. Or, the middle color to be lighter.

Knitting Three Yarns Together

I decided to knit my sisters scarves for Christmas. I used bamboo Alchemy Yarns that I ordered from purlsoho.com. I knitted three colors at the same time. I like the painterly effect of mixing the colors. I used size 10 1/2 needles, so it only took a few days to complete. I really like the vivid colors of the bamboo yarn.

The Last Knit

Your typical obsessive knitter.

Blue and Cream Scarf

This was my first successful attempt at knitting. I was inspired to knit myself a scarf after reading a post on treehugger.com about organic cotton yarn. I learned a lot after this project, like better ways to join yarn. I'd also make the scarf narrower and a little longer. But I'm relatively happy with the results.

Katahdin

I just finished a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trial, all 2,174.6 miles of it, and am trying to decide what to do with my life now. So, I thought I'd create a blog, mainly for myself, to keep track of my various projects. Not sure what I'll do with it, or for how long. Hope you enjoy.
